Virtual Conference: Watermarks and Musicology

Bernhard Lutz

Monday, May 10, 2021

We have received the following from Bernhard Lutz (Bavarian State Library):

The Bavarian State Library (BSB) will be hosting a virtual conference in German on 21-22 May 2021 entitled “Wasserzeichen und Musikwissenschaft.” The event will mark the close of a DFG-funded project concerning digital cataloging of watermarks in music manuscripts from the BSB’s collections up to the end of the 17th century.

The topic will be examined from different perspectives. Cataloging projects will provide insight into their work in their function as liaisons between sources and research. New developments in the field of digitization technology and scholarly infrastructure will be discussed. At the same time, reflections will be made on watermarks as objects of musicological research.

The conference will take place on Zoom. There is no cost to attend the conference. Please register by sending an email to wasserzeichen@bsb-muenchen.de by 17 May 2021.

Further information can be found in the conference program (PDF) and on the Events page of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek.
